Meet Kimberly Davagian
Kimberly Davagian comes from Massachusettes where she began her dance training at an early age. She studied ballet, pointe, tap and jazz for several years before choosing to focus more seriously on ballet, and enrolled in Boston Ballet's professional division. She also received her dance teacher certification from Dance Teacher's Club of Boston, where she earned the Jean Paige Scholarship for her written and practical test exams in ballet technique. She was first exposed to and fell in love with modern dance at Bates Dance Festival in Lewiston, Maine. It was then that she decided to pursue her BFA at Florida State University, where she stayed a year before auditioning for and being accepted into the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in 1998. After receiving her degree in dance performance from Ailey and a degree in Philosophical Studies from Fordham, she had the incredible opportunity to work for and travel with choreographers around New York City and abroad to several parts of Europe. After working with several modern dance companies in New York, Kim decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in fitness training in 2005, where she was drawn back to dance; performing, teaching and choreographing around the city. She began a modern dance program at a school in Los Angeles, teaching ballet, pointe, tap and modern to students ages 7-17. She also spent a year teaching ballet and modern dance to dance majors and minors at UCLA from 2007-08. Kim greatly looks forward to bringing her love of movement and teaching to Colorado Springs, and working with the faculty and students at NorthRidge Dance Conservatory this coming Fall.
