Damon Banks - Hip Hop

Damon Banks - Hip Hop

Damon Banks started off at an early age seriously involved in martial arts, which led him to study seven different styles including Kung-Fu, Mia Tia Kickboxing, and Jeet-Kune-do. This passion for the arts led him into dance at the age of thirteen. Starting with Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Jazz, he eventually took Ballet. Dance quickly became one of his greatest passions. Excelling at Hip Hop and Acrobatics he turned to teaching at age 16, doing various, local master classes and workshops. He performed with a studio crew at several competitions and went to nationals twice in Las Vegas. He attributes his talents and gifts to the Lord Jesus Christ and keeps God first in all that he does. He says that he is, a student of dance, always striving to keep on the cutting edge of choreography and technique. Now in his mid-twenties, Damon is continuing his dance career by his instructing. In every class he brings energy, fun, and creativity as well as a solid learning foundation. Hip Hop is action, it is attitude, but most of all it needs to be a passion.

Classes with Damon are aimed to be fun, exciting, and informative. Although Hip Hop is a very general art form, having dozens of sub-styles, he believes that Hip Hop has its foundational movements from which these styles grow. Every class is a study in the ways of Hip Hop and a chance for the student to be creative with his or her own movements. Unlike, ballet or classical jazz, Hip Hop portrays a freedom of expression that has popularized it throughout the past few decades. Having now become a very popular form of dance with the media (Americas Best Dance Crew and So You Think You Can Dance), Damon’s style stays current with today’s wave of inspiration and originality.
