Karen Backes, Owner - Ballet, Combo Karen Backes, along with her husband, Frank is the owner and founder of NorthRidge Dance Conservatory. Miss Karen teaches our preschool classes for children ages three to six: Creative, Combo and PreBallet. She started dancing as a young adult, taking ballet, tap, jazz and musical theatre. She appeared in local productions of “The King and I”, “42nd Street” and “Anything Goes” as a dancer and chorus member. Miss Karen has been teaching our youngest dancers in the Colorado Springs area since 1993 during the busy years of raising her own two daughters. Her style for teaching this age group is playful and creative, but follows the structure and etiquette of a traditional dance class.
